Main Causes of World War I

World War I, also known as the Great War, was primarily caused by militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism. The build-up of military forces and arms race fueled tensions among European powers. Alliances between various countries further escalated conflicts, leading to a domino effect of declarations of war. Imperialism, with nations competing for colonial territories, also heightened rivalry. Additionally, intense nationalism and the desire for independence fueled tensions across Europe. These factors, combined with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, ultimately sparked the escalation into a global conflict.
