What is the Process of Mitosis?

Mitosis is the process of cell division in which a single cell divides into two identical daughter cells. The process consists of several stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. During prophase, the genetic material condenses into chromosomes, the nuclear envelope breaks down, and the spindle fibers form. In metaphase, the chromosomes line up at the center of the cell. Anaphase follows, where the sister chromatids separate and move to opposite ends of the cell. Finally, in telophase, the chromosomes decondense, and the nuclear envelope re-forms. This process ensures that each new cell receives a complete set of genetic material.
